To the friends and family of Doug Cloward

Saturday, April 26, Doug was admitted to the hospital for a severe case of pneumonia. Later he was diagnosed with mantel cell lymphoma leukemia.

We have been receiving many emails and phone calls expressing love and prayers in behalf of Doug. We have set up this blog for updates on Doug's progress. Thank you all for your overwhelming support and care!

Monday Morning

Doug slept pretty well through the night. This morning he looks good and his fever seems to have broken through the night. His kidneys have not been working on their own so they are today's and tomorrow's primary concern. No news on the pneumonia yet, he will have some more x-rays of his lungs later today. We expect that the antibiotics will do their part. Generally he has energy and is comfortable...which means he wants to work, but we are insisting he rests.

As I look at Doug it reminds me that mountain men belong on the mountain, not the hospital! He looks as foreign in his sterile surroundings as an elk in a department store. I am sure that his cabin is missing him as much as he is missing it.

I enjoyed meeting and getting to know Brytt and Doug at the NC Regionals. Thank you for all you do and for the wonderful vision of Heritage Makers.

Doug and Family. Wow, I just signed up a couple weeks ago and am going to Regionals in Santa Ana. Wish you could be there. I'm sure you will kick it in the hind quarters and be back on your feet. It's sounds like you have high spirits. I have a friend that just started chemo this week and he has the same outlook on life, he just keeps going. Your an inspiration. I'm trying to get a friend to come with me to regionals. I'll let you know how it turns out. My sister-in-law was in Provo this last week end and she said it was totally AWESOME!!! You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Love; Torrie Nicholas

Doug and family,

Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. If anyone has the strength and determination to beat this, it is you Doug. You have been such a great inspiration to me, in more ways than you can imagine. Please concentrate on getting well. Know that we here in the field are going to push harder and stronger than ever before.

Lots of love and prayers to you all.

Doug, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Be tough, be strong and most of all be a good patient and listen to JUDY. You usually are the one presenting, now you lay back relax and let someone else do the talking. You can't keep a good man down as they say. You have always been our strength now we are here to give you our strength you need to get through this. We love you and will be here every step of the way.

Doug, and family, I kept receiving a verse:Romans 8:28
[ More Than Conquerors ] "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
It is so hard to fathom such a catastrophic event, but feel confident that God loves you and is in control...stay in HIS hands!

Hi Doug and Family,

Boy, the hospital isn't going to know what hit them! I'm sure before you leave (which I'm sure will be soon, tough mountain men don't sit still for long :)) the whole hospital staff is going to be inspired by Doug, and will go home determined to chase their dreams, and preserve their heritage!

Cloward family, you are all so amazing and inspiring. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for keeping us all posted on Doug... he is not only the father of the company, he is the father of our dreaming, and he means so much to all of us.

With Love,
Becky Evans
